The Federation of The Annunciation Catholic Schools

‘Be who God meant you to be...’

Welcome

‘Be who God meant you to be, and you will set the world on fire’

We are a Federation of two schools united by this shared mission, which underpins all that we do at both The Annunciation Catholic Infant School and The Annunciation Catholic Junior School. As a Federation, both schools strive to enrich the academic, cultural and spiritual lives of our pupils, supporting the children in truly flourishing into who God meant them to be.

Founded by Dominican Sisters, since their inception the Schools have been dedicated to nurturing the children and community we serve. As a Federation of Catholic Schools, we recognise our unique responsibility to work in partnership with our families and parish to celebrate and embolden our faith in the community and our young people. Our entire staff and Governors fully understand and embrace this responsibility and are dedicated to carrying on the work and legacy of our founders.

Our schools are deeply committed to nurturing the spiritual growth of our pupils and, working in partnership with you, supporting them on their faith journey towards becoming who God meant them to be. We do this through our celebrations of our faith, be it in our assemblies; our daily worship; or the celebration of Mass either in School or in our Parish Church. Through these events we not only help pupils to understand their faith but empower them to live it and celebrate it in their daily lives. We also help our pupils understand how they live their faith through our focus on the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, which is threaded through our curriculum.

With our Religion at the core of our curriculum, we offer a broad, engaging, challenging and academic programme to enrich the knowledge, skills and understanding of all our pupils. School leaders have designed broad and balanced curriculums, our lesson structures and high quality teaching all enable pupils to know more, remember more and do more.

Reading is given high priority across our curriculum. We believe that reading is a core skill which allows children to access learning across other areas. Our reading offer ensures that children firstly become fluent readers so they can find a love for reading and use it as a tool in life. Your child will encounter reading opportunities across a range of lessons during their school day.

We promote independence and resilience in our pupils as we believe these are life skills they will need if they are to live up to the challenge of our mission statement. Our aim is for our pupils to become life long learners with a passion to find the answer to something they are unsure of. In supporting all children to be who God meant them to be, we never place a glass ceiling on what our pupils can achieve and firmly believe that we offer our children experiences and learning daily that they would not have had were they not to attend school that day.
