‘Be who God meant you to be...’

World Faiths

Other Faiths:

Learning about the religion and cultures of those who do not share the Catholic faith is one of the ways in which Catholic schools embody the call to love one’s neighbour. As the Church says, “The love for all men and women is necessarily also a love for their culture. Catholic schools are, by their very vocation, intercultural.” (Congregation for Catholic Education p61).

We aim to prepare the children in our school for life in modern Britain, giving them an understanding of the beliefs of others with the view to improving social cohesion and contributing to the common good by increasing mutual respect between those of different religions.

Children are encouraged to explore learning of other faiths and traditions through lessons, outside speakers and visits to places of worship.

Pope Francis calls on us in society to live in dialogue, friendship and fraternal love in his encyclical Fratelli Tutti. He calls on us to “dream as a single human family, as fellow travellers sharing the same flesh, as children of the same earth which is our common home, each of us bringing the richness of his or her beliefs and convictions, each of us with his or her own voice, brothers and sisters all.” (FT, 8).
